The Forest Department apprehended a man from karnataka with a rifle for attempting to trespass into the Jawalagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in the Hosur Forest Reserve and shoot wildlife. Dhenkanikottai, Anchetti, Jawalagiri, Urigam, Rayakottai, Krishnagiri, and Hosur are among the seven wildlife sanctuaries of the Hosur Forest Reserve. Elephants, bears, spotted deer, leopards, and wild creatures are among the unique species of wildlife that call the sanctuary home.

Prior to the Yugadi holiday, district Forest Officer karthikeyan had ordered the formation of a special committee to combat wildlife poaching in the forest. As a result, at the Jawalagiri forest, a special squad comprised of forester Selvaraj, forest ranger Srinivasan, forest ranger Kumar, and poaching guard Subramanian has been constituted.

On the 31st, the special team patrolled the Kariyankuttai section of the Tali reserve early in the morning. The forest department detained Puttamadaiya (44), a resident of Thottur village in Kanagapura circle, Ramnagar district, karnataka, for attempting to shoot animals with an unauthorised pistol. Sukumar, a forester, stated: "Puttamadaiya has been charged with wildlife crime at the Jawalagiri Wildlife Sanctuary and remanded in detention for 15 days at the Hosur Branch Jail. Those who are involved in wildlife poaching will face severe consequences."
