In Ramanathapuram, police seized diamonds worth crores of rupees and are investigating a man from the lower coast. On a tip that diamonds were being smuggled, Ramanathapuram nagar police raided a car near the Lower Railway Gate in Ramanathapuram yesterday afternoon. On a government bus from the lower bank to Ramanathapuram on New east Street, Yusuf Sulaiman (36), the son of Mohammad Qasim, was arrested. He had diamonds in a suitcase, according to the inquiry.

He also claimed to be a trader who was planning to sell to a Devipattinam diamond dealer. He is being held on suspicion and quizzed because he has no paperwork for the diamond. They also seized 160.08 grammes of diamonds worth several crores of rupees. The police are looking into whether this is a diamond that has been stolen.

"Yusuf Suleiman has no evidence of diamonds," Ramanathapuram DSP raja remarked. So we're seizing and looking into it. If the necessary documentation are shown, the stones will be handed over. Because the seized diamonds had not been stripped, they could not be appraised. But what about diamonds? Its worth is still being investigated and the criminal will be confiscated.
