The bjp assaulted the coimbatore district collector's office Wednesday, demanding that the DMK be prosecuted for removing a portrait of prime minister Narendra Modi from the Vellalore municipality. On the 23rd, bjp officials in the area put up a portrait of prime minister Narendra Modi at the coimbatore Vellalore Municipal Corporation office. When the DMK councillors learned about this, they took down the Prime Minister's photo.

BJP executives and volunteers from coimbatore South district, led by the party's state treasurer SR Sehgar, protested by filing a plea with the district collector yesterday. The police only allowed five people inside. Others were involved in a siege conflict in front of the collector's office's entrance gate for refusing to allow it.

"Action should be taken against those who removed the Prime Minister's photo in the Vellalore municipality," he urged in a petition to the Collector. The Prime Minister's portrait should be replaced. "The prime minister should hang the photo in the district's government offices," they said. The police arrested all of them who were shouting against DMK and they were taken to a nearby mandapam for few hours and later they are warned and released.
