The DCEU, or the DC film universe, as it is known, has been struggling for a while. The decision-makers are unable to create a cohesive cinematic landscape like their competitors at Marvel Studios have. It is even surprising when you consider that most recent movies, in particular, have generally been quite fantastic. Simply put, the characters do not appear to get along with one another, something Kevin Feige's MCU accomplished. The animated film "DC League of Super-Pets," whose protagonists are the Justice League's pets rather than the Justice League members themselves, demonstrates that DC comic book characters can also succeed if there is a clear direction in mind for the project.

Given that the movie "DC League of Super-Pets" is animated, the most (though not all) of its gags are aimed at the younger DC fans. But it delivers a story with good pace, has a lot of heart, is action-packed, and the jokes usually land. After their home planet of Krypton was destroyed, Krypto (Dwayne Johnson), a superpowered Labrador, and Superman (John Krasinski) came to Earth. Together, they fight crime and eliminate bad guys that pose a threat to Metropolis. However, things go south when Supes falls in love with colleague Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, at least from Krypto's point of view (Olivia Wilde).

To be quite honest, "DC League of Super-Pets" has a fairly simple plot with few shocks. The outcome is very obvious. However, the humour, excitement, and excellent voice acting keep the on-screen action fascinating. A lot of the entertaining banter between the film's canine protagonists is inspired by "The Secret Life of Pets," so chances are good that you'll enjoy "DC League of Super-Pets" as well.

Additionally, there are superpowers present as a bonus. They have excellent realisation. Although flying animals and laser beams coming from their eyeballs can never be amusing, the action in this film has a gritty quality. Even though this movie was totally produced on computers, the battle scenes are excellent and occasionally just magnificent. In many ways, the movie has plenty to teach its live-action DCEU rivals.
