A video showing the accused grinning in police custody has appeared online as the 19-year-old girl who was set on fire in Dumka, Jharkhand, after declining a proposal died on Sunday. The culprit, Abhishek, could be seen grinning sarcastically as he was led away by police in handcuffs.

In an effort to maintain law and order amid widespread rallies demanding justice for the deceased, the district administration has implemented Section 144 of the Code of criminal Procedure (CrPC), which forbids the assembling of four or more individuals in the affected area.
The incident happened on tuesday in Dumka town when the suspect doused the woman in gasoline from outside the window of her bedroom while she was fast sleeping, setting her ablaze. The victim, a 12th-grade student, was initially brought into Dumka's Phulo Jhano Medical college and Hospital in critical condition with 90% burns. Later, she was advised to seek better care at Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS). The video has shocked several netizens and most of them are venting out their anger against the guy.
