According to estimates from the health company, there were at least 18.6 million illnesses and 100,000 deaths in china linked to Covid in December. Up to 3.7 million Covid cases each day may exist by mid-January. china is predicted to experience a total of 5,84,000 fatalities by january 23.

The figures are in sharp contrast to those that china reported. In contrast to other nations, which record all fatalities within 28 days of positive tests, china only counts Covid deaths as cases of persons who died of respiratory failure brought on by the virus after testing positive with a nucleic acid test. One death was all that china announced on december 30.
