The Wall Street Journal reports that McDonald's, one of the biggest fast-food chains in the world, will briefly close all of its US offices this week as it gets ready to inform its corporate employees of a new round of layoffs. The business had instructed its US employees to work from home from monday through wednesday and to cancel any in-person meetings planned for this week in order to deliver this news virtually. Uncertainty exists regarding the precise amount of employees who will be let go.

McDonald's recently informed its US staff via email that "key decisions related to roles and staffing levels across the organisation will be communicated during the week of april 3." As part of McDonald's updated business strategy, which may result in layoffs in some areas and growth in others, the layoffs are anticipated to be revealed by Wednesday.

Companies are increasingly implementing this trend of employment cuts as they attempt to combat a slowing global economy and rising inflation. In reaction, a number of tech behemoths, including Google, Amazon, and Facebook, have already reduced their operations. Unfortunately, those most negatively impacted by mass layoffs in US tech firms are Indians. Numerous workers with temporary visas who were residing in the US are now jobless and have a very short window of opportunity to find new employment.
