Election Results: In the 224-seat karnataka assembly, a party needs to win 113 seats to form the government.

As the ballots for the karnataka assembly elections are being tallied today, the congress is marginally ahead of the governing bjp in early trends. To establish the government in the 224-seat karnataka legislature, a party has to win 113 seats. 36 seats out of the total 224 are set aside for scheduled castes, while 15 seats are set up for scheduled tribes. Today will determine the electoral futures of several prominent figures, including JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, chief minister Basavaraj Bommai of the bjp, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar of the congress, and chief minister Basavaraj Bommai of the BJP.

Most exit polls have placed the congress ahead of the bjp, which is currently in power, and they also predict a possible hung assembly in the state. The JD(S) anticipates a hung jury, which would give it the opportunity to influence the formation of the administration.

The postal ballots are now being tallied. According to early trends, the bjp and congress are both in the lead with 31 seats. The JD-S is in the lead with 12 seats, and will play a significant role if the assembly is hung. The congress is expecting for a morale boost to provide it the much-needed platform on which it would establish itself as the main opposition party ahead of the national election next year because it believes in the exact same jinx that the bjp wants to break.
