After the present conflict ends, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) will rule the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
At the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv on Friday, he made this statement to the mayors of the border communities in Gaza. Netanyahu continued by saying that israel will not rely on foreign armies to rule the Gaza Strip.
The length of time that the Gaza Strip will be under Israeli authority was not specified by the prime minister, though.
It's interesting to note that the prime minister and his administration have made inconsistent claims about who would rule the Gaza Strip after the conflict.
He had spoken differently in many interviews that he had given to American news outlets.
It is important to remember that the IDF is present in Gaza and has taken over the city.
The Israeli army has previously neutralised a number of Hamas leaders, including Mohamed Sinwar, the brother of organisation head Yahya Sinwar, and even raided his office.
According to the IDF, during the IDF raid at Mohammed Sinwar's office, there found a significant amount of weapons, ammo, and leaflets endorsing Hamas.
Yoav Gallant, a former general and Israel's minister of defence, declared that israel will track down and assassinate Yahiya Sinwar.
