72% of congressional candidates face criminal charges, with 51% facing serious charges. The BJP's percentages are practically equal, at 71% and 49% for criminal cases and serious criminal cases, respectively. The All india Forward Bloc has the greatest numbers in this category, although nearly one-fourth (24%) of its candidates have criminal records. With just 14% disclosing criminal convictions against them, independent candidates appear to have the cleanest histories.
The elections for the telangana State Legislative assembly are set for november 30. Opinion surveys show the incumbent BRS, led by KC Rao, leading the congress and the BJP. 353 candidates, or 15%, face severe criminal charges, a minor rise from 13% in the 2018 elections. instances include seven murders, 27 attempted murders, and 45 instances involving crimes against women. Furthermore, 81% of the state's seats have been designated as 'Red Alert seats,' which means that three or more individuals running for office in the constituency have reported criminal offenses. This is a huge increase from the last assembly elections in 2018 when 66% of seats were designated as "Red Alert Constituencies."
From 2018 to 2023, the fraction of applicants having assets worth more than one crore stayed stable at 25%. Crorepatis account for 96% of Bharat Rashtra Samithi and 94% of congress candidates, with the All india Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen and the bjp trailing closely behind at 89% and 84%, respectively. Candidates in the election have reported assets of 4.71 crore on average. However, 41.48% of applicants had assets worth less than 10 lakhs.
