National Conference leader Omar Abdullah stated on sunday that the triumph of other parties in elections held in other states meant little to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The statements were made by the former chief minister of kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir on the same day that the bjp won assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, while the congress ousted the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana.

"There was very little for the people to rejoice over the victory of others in the elections held across various states in the country because it has been years now since the locals have seen elections in kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir," Omar said during his address to the party's zonal workers at Tikri in Udhampur district during its one-day convention.

Taking a jab at the central government, the National Conference vice-president stated that those who trumpet democracy throughout the world do not allow it to reach Jammu & Kashmir.

"They have demonstrated that they dislike not only the concept of assembly, but also panchayats and urban local bodies." "It's no surprise that they may end up with district development councils as well," Abdullah remarked.

"What is the fault of the people of kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir that they are being deprived of their democratic right and are not even being given the opportunity to elect their assembly (members)?" he said.

On the contrary, he said that "crownless kings" had been foisted on the people of kashmir - SRINAGAR/JAMMU' target='_blank' title='jammu and kashmir-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jammu and kashmir who make Union Territory decisions without consulting the people.

"These people give speeches every day enumerating the negatives related to Article 370, but if I may ask them, what exactly did its revocation change for the people of Jammu and Kashmir?" Abdullah added, criticising the central government and bjp politicians for "misleading the country" on Article 370.

"What advantages did our people gain from its revocation?" Article 370, on the other hand, was the one that granted our people land rights.
