While presenting the Union Budget 2024, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the country's GDP is the primary objective. Special steps to empower women, such as higher subsidies for cooking gas and loans, are planned, acknowledging their critical role in the electorate. With a worldwide movement towards sustainable energy, the budget may include cash for green hydrogen and electric car programmes, putting india at the forefront of the green revolution.

One key expectation is an increase in funds sent under the government's flagship direct benefit transfer initiative, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Economists surveyed by The Economic Times estimate a 50% increase, raising the yearly sum from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000.

Low-cost housing is also likely to receive attention, since a new version of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PM Awas Yojana) is envisaged. Furthermore, analysts anticipate that Sitharaman will continue to prioritise job creation through continued infrastructure investment.

Sakshi Gupta, Principal Economist at hdfc bank, suggested that the government might increase support under the PM-Kisan scheme to a range of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000. The previous budget allocated Rs 60,000 crore to PM-Kisan.
