Prime minister Narendra Modi prayed a fast recovery to Britain's king Charles III, who has been afflicted with cancer. "On behalf of the people of India, I wish His Majesty king Charles III a speedy recovery and good health," the prime minister wrote on X.

On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that king Charles had been diagnosed with cancer following surgery for benign prostate enlargement. The 75-year-old king had surgery for an enlarged prostate at The london Clinic last month. On january 17, he was diagnosed with a benign illness. king Charles has begun treatment, and physicians have urged him to postpone public appearances, according to the statement.
"He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible," the statement said.

According to the Palace, the news of king Charles' diagnosis is being communicated to "prevent speculation and in the hope that it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer".

While undergoing treatment, king Charles will continue to conduct state business and complete official paperwork.

According to PTI, king Charles personally told both prince William and Henry about his condition, and prince William maintains frequent touch with his father.

Meanwhile, former UK prime minister Boris Johnson sent his wishes for the King's rapid recovery, saying, "The whole country will be rooting for the king today."
