According to sources who spoke to india Today TV, the bjp is expected to name candidates for its "weak seats" in Uttar Pradesh before the election commission announces the dates of the next lok sabha elections. Top bjp figures, including chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, JP Nadda, and Union home minister amit shah, met on saturday to talk about the "weak seats" where the party would face a tough election battle.
 
According to sources, the party intends to declare candidates for these "weak seats" before of the election dates, allowing the candidates to start their campaigns.
 

The conference was also attended by other leaders of the state's core committee, including Keshav prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, the deputy chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh. The meeting took place at the party headquarters in delhi and lasted for almost two hours.
 
In Uttar Pradesh, the bjp secured 62 out of 80 seats in the 2019 lok sabha elections. Apna Dal, an nda ally, took home two seats.
 
Days after the Samajwadi party and the congress, two members of the Opposition india group, reached a consensus on seat-sharing in Uttar Pradesh, the party met.
 
The Samajwadi party (SP) and its coalition allies will compete for the remaining 63 seats, with the congress fighting for 17 of them.
