The lok sabha elections and the secunderabad Cantonment by-election have prompted the State administration to proclaim paid vacations on May 13 and june 4, respectively. district Collectors and district election Officers around the State have been instructed by Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari to announce paid vacations on these dates.

Even though the state has 520,000 voters with impairments and over 190,000 voters who are 85 years of age or older. Only about 23,000 people have registered to vote at home, though.

For voters over 85 and those with impairments who meet the 40% baseline disability threshold, the ECI has made home voting available.

Since it adheres to the ECI's goal of making sure "No voter is left behind," the home voting initiative has been favorably appreciated.

With the use of this tool, qualified voters can vote without leaving the comforts of their homes and without going to the polls.

After the voter submits Form 12D within five days of receiving the election notification, a committed team of poll workers and security guards comes to their home to collect their ballot.

For transparency, the entire procedure is recorded on video camera.
