In a significant legal step, Culver Max Entertainment Private Limited (previously sony Pictures Network India) has sued MX Player at the delhi High court for nonpayment of dues. On May 27, the court asked MX media to set aside Rs. 31.25 crore from any sales proceeds. This strategy tries to safeguard the unpaid sum owing to Sony.
 
Sony filed an urgent petition, stressing that MX media & Entertainment Pte Ltd. (Singapore) cancelled their Distribution Agreement but did not pay the Rs. 31.25 crore due. As a result, the delhi High court ruled that this cash must be protected from any asset transactions. MX media & Entertainment Pte Ltd., situated in singapore, is undergoing liquidation proceedings at the singapore High Court. These proceedings have been delayed until june 20, 2024, when MXP media India Ltd. and MX media Co. Ltd. (British Virgin Islands) asked that the liquidation order be cancelled.
