Suriya has worked with filmmaker karthik Subbaraj on his 44th film, provisionally named 'Suriya 44'. According to DT Next, the filmmakers are expected to approach pooja hegde for the female lead role in the film. If the reports are correct, this will be Suriya and pooja Hegde's first cooperation. The formal notification is anticipated. 
The project was announced in March, and pre-production is anticipated to begin shortly. karthik Subbaraj had written a one-liner, and Suriya loved the premise and quickly agreed to be a part of the film; only then did the scripting begin.
