On Monday, june 10, a day after assuming office for the historic third term as prime minister, narendra modi signed the first file authorising the distribution of the 17th Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman nidhi installment. According to PM narendra modi, the programme would disburse around ₹20,000 crore and help 9.3 crore farmers. Earlier on Monday, Modi assumed the role of prime minister for a third time.
 
"The government we have is totally dedicated to Kisan Kalyan." Thus, it seems sense that the first file to be signed after assuming leadership has to do with farmer welfare. In the future, we want to continue working even harder for farmers and the agriculture industry, stated prime minister narendra Modi. Despite numerous setbacks, particularly in rural India, the ruling National Democratic Alliance's election victory indicates the government's dedication to farmers' welfare, as seen by this move.
 
What is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)?

• The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman nidhi or PM-KISAN, a central sector scheme, aims at providing financial assistance to cultivable landholding farmer families across the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria, to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs.

• Under the scheme launched in february 2019, just ahead of the previous lok sabha elections, an amount of ₹6,000 is transferred annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 directly into the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of the farmers.

• Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the respective state or UT government is responsible for identifying the beneficiaries and uploading their correct and verified data on the PM-KISAN portal.
