A speeding ticket is usually only a small annoyance.  However, it has turned into the new nightmare for those on F1 visas.  In the US, even the simplest mistakes could result in your death due to the ongoing SEVIS crackdown.  This concern was expressed by a student in Cedar Park, Texas, who was caught exceeding the speed limit by just 10 mph.  They are now afraid of what this may do to their visa.

Furthermore, this concern isn't entirely unfounded.  Because the regulations are more stringent than ever and every infraction is recorded by SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Informations System), even a minor infraction like a speeding ticket can lead to a serious immigration dilemma.  Even if the student is considering enrolling in a defensive driving school in an attempt to get the ticket dismissed, it is extremely doubtful that this will erase the negative mark from his record.

Unfortunately, this is the reality that holders of F1 visas must deal with.  Since every ticket, fine, and mistake could result in the loss of your visa, they cannot afford to take anything lightly. watch out this space for more updates in this regard.
