Imran Khan, the former prime minister of pakistan, is presently incarcerated following his conviction on corruption charges. He has responded to the fatal terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent, unarmed civilians, the majority of whom were tourists.

Khan, however, attempted to use the tragedy for political purposes rather than denounce the heinous deed.

Targeting the indian government rather than pointing the finger at terrorism.

The pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader described the horrifying terror attack as "deeply disturbing and tragic" in his initial response on Tuesday, april 29, however, he refrained from condemning the terrorists behind it.  By bringing up past stories, labeling the 2019 Pulwama attack a "false flag" operation, and attempting to place the responsibility on the indian government, he instead attempted to deflect attention.

He went so far as to say that although pakistan is still divided, India's aggression has brought it together.

From prison, imran khan advances his personal agenda.

Khan remained steadfast in his local political agenda while incarcerated, denouncing the Shehbaz Sharif regime as a 'illegitimate government'.

"It is imperative that all activities that are further dividing the country be stopped," Khan stated in a statement.

"The nation's collective ability to confront external threats is being undermined and internal divisions are being exacerbated by the state's excessive focus on political victimization at this crucial juncture," he continued.

Accuses opposing politicians of being lenient toward india

Khan also attacked Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari, his political rivals, personally, saying that their strong financial ties outside are the reason they have been silent regarding India.

It is naïve to expect self-serving individuals like Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif to take a bold stand.  Because their illicit money and commercial interests are overseas, they will never criticize india, Khan asserted.

They benefit from foreign investments, thus they keep quiet about foreign aggression and unfounded accusations against pakistan in order to safeguard their financial interests. They simply fear that if they reveal the truth, indian lobbyists will freeze their offshore assets, he continued.
