In this, the punjab government was demanded to release water "unconditionally". chief minister Saini said that not following the instructions of BBMB is not only unconstitutional, but it is a direct attack on the federal structure of the Constitution. According to PTI, he alleged that this action of the aam aadmi party (AAP) government of punjab is motivated by political malice, which has come to the fore after the defeat of AAP in Delhi.

However, punjab Water Resources minister Barinder Kumar Goyal boycotted the meeting, calling it "unconstitutional" and said that the state government does not agree with it. The punjab government argues that haryana has already used 103 percent of its share of water till March. Leaders of all major parties attended the meeting held in haryana, including Congress' Bhupendra Singh Hooda, AAP's Sushil Gupta, JJP's Dushyant Chautala, INLD's Rampal Majra and senior bjp leaders. In the resolution passed in the meeting, the punjab government was demanded to immediately and unconditionally implement the decisions taken by the BBMB's technical committee on april 23 and 30.
A day before this, an all-party meeting was held in punjab on the same issue, in which all parties supported the refusal to give more water to Haryana. haryana chief minister Saini clearly said that his state wants cooperation, not confrontation, but if needed, "it is ready to fight every battle". He appealed to punjab to "understand the pain of the neighbor" and not create any obstacle in the process of releasing water on humanitarian grounds.
