Following the pahalgam terror incident, which was India's biggest attack on civilians since the 26/11 mumbai attack, pakistan fears reprisal from India.

Videos of several clerics publicly denouncing the oppressive Pakistani establishment are being widely circulated online amid the elevated tensions. A preacher at the Lal Masjid in Islamabad is featured in one of the films circulating on X. "Pakistan's fight is a fight of nationality, not of Islam, and that there is more oppression in pakistan than in india," according to him. In the case of a conflict with india, the cleric then asks the populace if they will back Pakistan. Interestingly, nobody raises their hand, underscoring the low level of national support for the Pakistani army.

On the internet, there is also another video of a preacher from unrest-plagued Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.  "You think we'll support you after all the devastation you've done to Pashtuns?  Do you want us to recite "Zindabad" for you?  Tell me if I'm correct or not.  Our land has been oppressed by you. In a video, khyber pakhtunkhwa Maulana is heard stating, "You have oppressed us Pashtuns." It was observed that everyone listening to his remarks was nodding in agreement. "Have you not shed tears for a Pashtun child?  May the children of these troops weep like the Pashtun children did, O'Lord.

Now let them grieve in their homes.  Every household in Malakand and Swat is in grief.  There have been two or three deaths in every family.  Do you believe Pashtuns will back you up? Internal security tensions in the nation despite the diplomatic fallout from the recent pahalgam terror incident that killed 26 lives were made public a few days ago when a video of a significant altercation between the pakistan army and Pakistani police in khyber pakhtunkhwa province went viral on social media. The widely shared video shows Pashtun police officers in khyber pakhtunkhwa province's Lakki Marwat preventing a convoy of pakistan army soldiers from approaching a police station.

Standing on the terrace and brandishing a weapon at army personnel is a police officer. "Rahe Ho Idhar Kya Kar.  What are you doing here, General Bhi Aa Jaye Phir Bhi kuch Nahi Kar Sakte Ho?  In the background, a police officer says, "We won't let you even if your General is here." "Yeh Lakki, police hai Marwat.  This is Lakki Marwat police, Yaad Rakhna.  The policeman continues, "We don't fear anyone."

The tapes being released at a time when the pahalgam terror assault is putting pressure on pakistan internationally.  India has taken a number of actions, including as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and canceling visas granted to citizens of Pakistan. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on pakistan Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif to denounce the april 22 attack in kashmir and assist with an inquiry amid the growing tension between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
