Some performances leave a lasting impression, while others are merely entertaining.  One such performance is pooja Hegde's portrayal of Ruku in Retro. It softly becomes more powerful the longer you remain with it, rather than screaming for attention. pooja doesn't seem like an actress portraying a role from the first picture. She has a presence that is both grounded and subtly radiant, and she is Ruku with ease and conviction.

She never feels even the slightest bit removed from the Rukku universe. This performance is notable for its profundity as much as its simplicity.  Pooja expresses a wide range of emotions through her silence, even though Rukku doesn't always talk much.  In a manner that words would not have adequately conveyed, her eyes convey anguish, hope, love, and resiliency.

That emotional fluidity is uncommon and poignant. Pooja's rendition of Rukku turns it into a visual representation of "softness in strength." She exudes a natural charm that doesn't require much effort, a quiet resolve, and a warmth that makes her seem familiar. She is the girl next door in every aspect—not in a clichéd sense, but rather in a way that feels genuine and surprisingly kind.
