Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber and travel vlogger who is currently being held by the police on suspicion of spying for pakistan, went to pahalgam in january while on a five-day tour of Kashmir. She also went to pakistan and attended a party at the Pakistani High Commission in India, according to her instagram handle. Notably, on april 22, about three months after her visit, terrorists murdered 26 tourists in Pahalgam. The authorities are currently looking into whether she conducted a reconnaissance and provided her Pakistani handlers with information.

According to SP hisar Shashank Kumar Sawan, an inquiry is underway to determine whether her visit and the terrorist attack are connected in any way.  "The inquiry is underway to determine any connections, if any, as she was in pakistan before to the pahalgam incident.  We have leads that other people were also engaged with her, therefore we are also looking into that," Sawan said.

Additionally, he claimed that Jyoti Malhotra was being developed as an asset by Pakistani operatives. Malhotra was in contact with other YouTube influencers, according to the SP, and they were also in contact with the operators in Pakistan. "Warfare in the modern era is not limited to border conflicts. To promote their story, the PIOs are attempting to enlist some social media influencers.  We detained Jyoti Malhotra after receiving information from the central authorities.  She had been to china once and pakistan several times.  She had communication with the PIOs.  We have placed her under police remand for five days.

Her financial information is being examined by us. She kept in contact with the PIOs during the Indo-Pak conflict. "Her travel itinerary contradicts her total income," the SP stated. A local court had earlier placed Jyoti Malhotra under police remand for five days, according to officials.  Her laptop and mobile phone were recovered, and police say "suspicious things" were discovered. Furthermore, the vlogger was in "continuous contact" with a Pakistani national, according to Kamaleet, the Deputy Superintendent of Hisar.
