Sinners has achieved yet another significant milestone at the box office.  Michael B. jordan plays twins Smoke and Stack in the new Ryan Coogler horror film. When they return to their Mississippi homeland in 1932, they must defend themselves against a powerful evil. Among the many box office records achieved by the Sinners release is the largest easter weekend opening for an R-rated film.  On june 3, it will be made available for purchase on video-on-demand services after reaching over $300 million globally and ranking among the top 10 horror films ever.

Since its april premiere, Sinners' box office has reached ever-higher levels of growth.  It is the third highest-grossing horror film on the same ranking and the 157th film to ever reach the $250 million mark at the domestic box office.  It has only lagged behind the 2017 smash hit It ($328.8 million) and the generation-defining blockbuster Jaws ($273.7 million) from 1975.  Sinners is the highest-grossing original horror film in North America because both of those films were based on books.

Sinners has eclipsed major domestic hits including A Quiet Place ($188 million) by john Krasinski, Get Out ($175.8 million) and Us ($175.1 million) by jordan Peele, and the found footage sensation The Blair Witch Project ($140.5 million) in order to achieve that title.  Only 25 other films have achieved the $250 million domestic milestone in the 2020s, ranging from 2021's Spider-Man: No Way home at $814.9 million to 2024's Mufasa: The lion King at $254.6 million. It is also doing well outside of the genre.
