For years, Jason Statham has been working almost nonstop. His next movie, Mutiny, which is about a former special forces agent clearing his name of a murder he didn't commit, is getting closer to being released in 2026, so it doesn't look like the streak will be breaking anytime soon.

The movie follows Statham's two earlier endeavors, A Working Man (2025) and The Beekeeper (2024), both of which had differing degrees of success.  Although Statham has always been a box office favorite, a current trend in the box office may make his movies riskier. Other than Statham, a few cast members have been revealed by Mutiny.  Now that a release date has been set, it will serve as a reliable predictor of the actor's future chances of playing the lead in these popular, mid-budget action movies.

Jason Statham Just Endured An Unexpected box office Decline With His Action Movies

A Working Man Made A Lot Less Than The Beekeeper

In 2024, Statham made just one appearance in The Beekeeper, which was a big hit for the actor, grossing over $160 million on a $40 million budget and garnering him a rare critical acclaim.  The film was able to surpass many of the generic action films that have been flooding the market for years.

A Working Man, on the other hand, was criticized more and made about $100 million on a $40 million budget—60 million less than his previous years' earnings.  That's not to say it was a failure; it was still a huge hit, but it witnessed a significant decline in comparison to The Beekeeper.

For a mid-budget film like A Working Man, that is more than the total budget, even if some of the biggest films and series don't have to worry about a $60 million discrepancy.  Although it wasn't a flop, the actor's future may be a little concerned given how much less money it brought in.
