3-Day bank Holiday Notice


New Delhi: Starting today, august 15, banks across india will observe a series of holidays over the next three days, concluding on august 17, as per the bank OF INDIA' target='_blank' title='reserve bank of india-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>reserve bank of india (RBI) holiday schedule.


While banks will close for different reasons across various states, it is important to understand that these holidays will not be uniform nationwide. Specific banks will shut down on different days due to regional celebrations and festivals occurring this week.


Holiday Breakdown:


- august 15 (Friday): Banks will close nationwide for Independence Day, Parsi New Year, and Janmashtami.

 

- august 16 (Saturday): Banks in cities including Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bhopal, Ranchi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Shillong, Jammu, Srinagar, and vijayawada will observe closures for Janmashtami and krishna Jayanthi.

 

- august 17 (Sunday): All banks will remain closed for the regular sunday holiday.


It’s essential to note that banks will not be closed consecutively across all states. For example, while banks in Agartala will observe a holiday for the Birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram kishore Manikya Bahadur, other states will not follow the same closure.


The RBI categorizes these holidays into three groups: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays, and Banks Closing of Accounts. Variations in bank holidays are influenced by the specific festivals and occasions celebrated in each state. Thus, customers are advised to check with their local branches for precise holiday schedules.
