JavaScript is essential for running interactive websites, web apps, and online tools. If websites aren’t working properly, JavaScript might be disabled in your browser. Here’s how to turn it on.
1. Enable JavaScript in google Chrome
Open Google Chrome.
Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner and select Settings.
In the left menu, click Privacy and Security, then select Site Settings.
Scroll down to Content → click JavaScript.
Toggle Allowed (recommended) to enable JavaScript.
💡 Tip: You can also allow or block JavaScript for specific sites under Customized behaviors.
2. Enable JavaScript in microsoft Edge
Open Edge.
Click the three dots (⋮) → Settings.
Go to Cookies and site permissions → scroll to JavaScript.
Toggle Allowed (recommended) to enable JavaScript.
Edge and Chrome have similar steps because both are Chromium-based browsers.
3. Enable JavaScript in Mozilla Firefox
Open Firefox.
In the address bar, type about:config and press Enter.
Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
In the search box, type javascript.enabled.
If the value is false, double-click it to set it to true.
Firefox uses a configuration page instead of a normal settings menu, so this is a bit different from Chrome or Edge.
4. Enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer (IE)
Open Internet Explorer.
Click the gear icon (⚙) → select Internet options.
Go to the Security tab → click Custom level….
Scroll down to Scripting → Active scripting.
Select Enable → click OK, then Apply.
Note: Internet Explorer is outdated and not recommended for modern web browsing.
5. Enable JavaScript in Opera
Open Opera.
Go to Settings → Advanced → Privacy & Security → Site Settings.
Scroll to JavaScript and toggle Allowed.
✅ Quick Tips
- Always refresh the page after enabling JavaScript.
- If websites still don’t work, clear your browser cache.
- Avoid enabling JavaScript from untrusted sources to maintain security.
By enabling JavaScript, you ensure that modern websites, web apps, and interactive features work properly.
