In Kerala, India, there have been numerous gold smuggling cases. Even central agencies such as the ED and NIA are following an inquiry that has roiled the country. While this is going on, more cases of gold smuggling are being discovered. On Monday, customs agents in Kannur discovered 302 grammes of gold hidden in a passenger's slacks.
“At Kannur airport, the air Intelligence Unit seized gold secreted in the shape of a very thin paste beneath a passenger's double-layered pants,” said the Customs Preventive Unit in Kochi.

The passenger was dressed in light blue slacks with a double layering on the inside to hide the thin paste of gold that had been smeared inside.
The indian gold Policy Centre recently estimated that 300 tonnes of gold are smuggled into the country each year, resulting in a revenue loss of 20,000 crores for the government.
A guy was caught at mangalore International airport last week for smuggling gold worth Rs 5,58,900 from Dubai.

The gold was hidden inside pink-colored hairbands as wires and weighed 115 grammes, according to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

The accused is from Murdeshwar in the Uttar kannada district of Karnataka. He was detained upon his arrival in the united states from Dubai.
