YouTube channels blocked for anti-India content...
The I&B Ministry has blocked 18 indian and 4 Pakistani YouTube news channels for posting fake news and anti-national content. Along with this, the ministry also blocked 3 social media accounts, 1 facebook account, and 1 news website. The ministry said in a statement that these YouTube channels used logos and false thumbnails of tv news channels to mislead viewers.
Was posting fake content?
The ministry said that these YouTube channels were used to post fake news on different topics like indian Armed Forces, Jammu, and Kashmir. Also, anti-India content was shared on many social media accounts running from Pakistan. In some cases, it also came to light that fake news against india was being spread from Pakistan. It was observed that these indian YouTube channels also posted fake content about the current situation in Ukraine. Its purpose affects India's foreign relations with other countries. The total viewership of block YouTube channels was more than 260 crores.
78 YouTube channels blocked since December
Since december till now, the ministry has blocked 78 YouTube channels. Apart from this, there are many social media accounts that have been banned. These accounts were spreading wrong information. With this decision, 78 YouTube channels have been blocked by the ministry since december last year.
