Elephant Trampling Deaths: 5 killed in 24 hours...


The terror of stray elephants in the forests of Jharkhand's Lohardaga is not stopping. In the last 24 hours in the district, 5 people, including three women, have died after being trampled by elephants in different incidents. An official of the Forest Department gave this information on Monday. The officer said that on monday morning, three people were killed by an elephant in a village under Bhandra police station area, while a woman was killed by an elephant in Kudu police station area on sunday evening. After the death of 5 people, there is an atmosphere of panic in the whole area.

Lohardaga's Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Arvind Kumar said, 'A 50-year-old woman died after being trampled by an elephant in Kudu on sunday evening. Four people in the age group of 30 to 65 years died in Bhandra on monday morning after being crushed by an elephant. He told that there is a distance of about 25 kilometers between Bhandra and Kudu. In such a situation, it is possible that all the deaths happened due to the crushing of the same elephant. It has not yet been confirmed, though.

Police has sent the dead bodies for postmortem. The DFO said that on monday, an assistance of Rs 25-25 thousand was immediately provided to the families of the deceased, while an assistance of Rs 3.75 lakh would be given to each victim's family after completion of the government process.
