A day before prime minister Narendra Modi is set to open the Gandhinagar capital train station, indian Railways published an old shot of the station. Both the "before" and "after" photographs of the Gandhinagar railway station were published on twitter by the Railway Ministry. The railway station boasts a number of firsts, the most notable of which is a five-star hotel being built within a railway station, a first for indian Railways. Many have been amazed after the pictures were shared.

For the renovation of the station, the government of gujarat and the indian railway station Development Corporation (IRSDC) created a Joint Venture SPV called Gandhinagar Railway and Urban Development (GARUD). The Gandhinagar capital railway station was upgraded for a total cost of 71.50 crore.

The 318-room luxury hotel, which will be run by a private company, is stretched over 7,400 square metres and cost Rs 790 crore, according to the press release. It was reported that the hotel will welcome national and international guests attending seminars and conferences at mahatma Mandir, a convention center located just across the street.

Darshana Jardosh, minister of State for Railways and Textiles, tweeted a video of the train station at night.
