As the members of the Andalusia parliament in Seville, Spain, were ready to vote on a crucial subject, a rat entered the building. Reuters published a video of MPs reacting to the rat, which has gone viral. Marta Bosquet, a regional speaker, was speaking when she noticed the mouse inside the room. She screamed into the microphone before covering her lips in surprise. Several other members of parliament got out of their seats and began searching for the rodent, causing chaos in the chamber.

According to Express, the members were set to vote on whether to appoint Susana Diaz, the former regional president, as a senator for the region. The mouse attack momentarily halted the proceedings, but the members reconvened and Susana Diaz was sworn in as a socialist senator representing the region. Several accounts stated that the rat was enormous. The rat was captured by a firm hired by the Andalusian parliament while the session resumed amid shrieks and gasps.

The first elections for Andalusia's parliament, which is based in Seville, were held in 1982. It is presently governed by a partnership between the People's party of Andalusia and Ciudadanos, with 109 members chosen under the D'Hondt method.
