The heat wave in delhi is increasing continuously. Keeping this in mind, the Directorate of education (Health Branch) has issued a new guideline for all government, aided and private schools. This guideline is an extension of the previous circular issued on 27 march 2025 and its main objective is to take care of the safety and health of the students.
First of all, there will be no afternoon assembly in schools now. This decision has been taken due to strong sunlight and rising temperatures so that children can avoid the sun. Apart from this, no class will be taken in open grounds or grounds now. All classes will be held inside the room only.
Ban on outdoor activities
All kinds of outdoor activities like sports, running or other physical activities have been stopped during the heatwave. Until the weather becomes normal, children will only participate in indoor activities.
Schools have to ensure that clean and cold drinking water is available for the children. All water coolers and RO systems should be in good condition. Along with this, fans should be working properly in all the classrooms and the ventilation of the rooms should be good.
'Staff or parents should not sit in the scorching sun'
students will be given breaks to drink water from time to time so that they can avoid dehydration. Apart from this, fire extinguishers should be in working condition in all the corridors. Children will be encouraged to use hats, dupattas or umbrellas to avoid the sun. It is important to ensure that no student, staff or parent sits in the scorching sun or stays outside for a long time. If any student suffers from heat-related illness, ORS and first aid facilities will be available in the school itself. It will be mandatory to report every such case to the nearest hospital or health center. The hygiene and safety rules already in force will also be strictly followed. All these measures have been taken keeping in mind the safety and health of the students.
