The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the results for Round 1 of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) counselling for 2025, which were released on august 12—twelve days later than initially scheduled. This delay was prompted by multiple requests from candidates for extensions on result declarations and choice-locking.

Originally, Round 2 registration was set to commence on august 12. However, due to the aforementioned delays, both registration and result announcements have been postponed. The MCC has allocated six days for candidates to report to their allotted institutes after Round 1, followed by two days for the verification of those who joined. With reporting for Round 1 starting on august 14, Round 2 registration is now anticipated to begin on august 22, 2025. students can register for Round 2 through the official MCC website: mcc.nic.in.

Candidates who either did not secure a seat in Round 1 or wish to upgrade their existing seat are eligible to participate in Round 2 counselling. Importantly, fresh registration is not required for candidates who fall into one of the following categories:

- Registered in Round 1 but did not get a seat.

- Had their seat canceled during verification.

- Opted for an upgrade.

- Were allotted a seat but did not join.

- Surrendered their seat within the designated timeframe.

Before heading to college for admission, candidates must download the allotment letter from the MCC website and bring all original documents along with photocopies.

The counselling process consists of six key steps: registration, choice filling and locking, seat allotment, result declaration, physical reporting, and the option for a Round 3 upgrade after joining Round 2. Candidates are encouraged to regularly check the MCC website for updates regarding Round 2 registration.
