The Union Public service Commission (UPSC) has announced an extension of the application deadline for the Civil services Examination (CSE) 2026, which includes recruitment for prestigious posts such as Indian Administrative service (IAS), Indian Police service (IPS), and Indian Forest service (IFS) among others.

📅 Revised Deadline to Apply

  • The UPSC CSE 2026 application process began on 4 february 2026.
  • The original deadline to submit the online application was 24 february 2026 (by 6:00 PM).
  • Revised deadline: 27 february 2026 (up to 6:00 PM) — extended by three days to accommodate candidates facing difficulties with the online application portal.

This extension applies to both the Civil services Examination (CSE) 2026 and the Indian Forest service (IFS) 2026 registration process.

🛠️ Why the Deadline Was Extended

The deadline extension came in response to reports from aspirants that the official application portal upsconline.nic.in experienced technical issues, slow loading speeds, and accessibility problems due to heavy traffic as the original closing time approached. This made it difficult for many candidates to complete their registration in time.

By extending the deadline, UPSC has given aspirants additional time to finalise and submit their applications without losing the opportunity to appear for the 2026 examination cycle.
