According to the General of india (RGI), 42 per cent of deaths in the country are due to heart problems, pneumonia and asthma. These three issues accounted for the largest percentage of deaths nationwide in 2020. The General of india (RGI) has released a report titled Medical Certification of Cause of Death 2020 to analyze the causes of death in India. According to the report, a total of 81.15 lakh deaths were reported in the country in 2020. Of these, 1811688 deaths were medically confirmed.



Of these, 32.1 per cent died of heart (circulatory system) problems, according to the RGI report. Revealed that another 10 per cent died from respiratory related diseases. Of these, approximately nine percent, or 160,618 deaths, occurred with Kovid alone. It is noteworthy that these are higher than the Kovid deaths (148994) mentioned by the Union Ministry of health for 2020. As of May 25, there were 524,507 deaths nationwide, according to the Union health Ministry.



The highest number of deaths in the country are due to lung and heart problems, the RGI report said. These are classified as ‘circulatory system’ cause deaths. pneumonia is the second leading cause of death, followed by asthma. Of the 8.9 percent of all medically confirmed deaths, Covid-19 listed the cases as cod-19 deaths.




According to the Registrar General of india, 7.1 per cent of deaths were due to diseases such as malignant septicemia and tuberculosis. 5.8 per cent of deaths were due to endocrine malnutrition (diabetes). Injuries accounted for 5.6 per cent of deaths due to things like poisoning. 4.7 percent of medically confirmed deaths are due to cancer.




According to the Registrar General of india, the number of deaths due to any number of health problems in 2020 is 88.7 per cent of the total nine types of health problems. The rest were 11.3 percent. Males constitute 64% of all deaths and females 36%.




The highest number of deaths in the country in 2020 (517678) were among those over 70 years of age. The report says that most deaths in people over the age of 45 are due to heart problems. About 5.7 percent of all deaths occur in children under one year of age.
