With Covid-19 Pandemic still haunting our lives and denting our normal lives, there’s a new viral fever ‘Scrub Typhus’ slowly creating alarming concern as it has spread widely through UP and has already affected 29 people in Guwhati, Assam.
Uttar Pradesh has been under this mysterious viral fevel for about 2-3 weeks even causing deaths. Now the city of mathura has confirmed the mysterious fever as ‘Scrub Typhus’. The ‘scrub tyhus’ has entered assam as well causing 29 infections and making the assam health department close down a Covid-19 hospital concerning for the same.
What is Scrub Typhus?
From Centers of Disease Control and prevention, it is a disease caused by the bacteria ‘orientia tsutsugamushi’. people get infected by it after getting bit by infected larval mites. This bacterial fever is also known as ‘Bush Typhus’.
What are the symptoms of Scrub Typhus?
Symptoms are quite common to any other viral fever. Fever, chills, headache, body ache and muscle soreness are the common symptoms of Scrub Typhus. In some cases, it can create a black scab like patch and as well cause mental disorientation to push an individual into coma.
As of now, no vaccination is available.
Treatment for Scrub Typhus?
According to few study, the infected person needs to be treated with the doxycycline.
Prevention from Scrub Typhus?
Adults and kids need to cover from head to toe and avoid getting bit by Mosquito and chiggers
