After Corona, fewer births, and more deaths in delhi, shocking figures revealed in the annual report
Figures have come out regarding birth and death rates in Delhi. These figures have shown that the birth rate in delhi is less as compared to previous years.
After Corona, people's lives once again became normal as before. A report of the delhi government that came out recently has shocked me again. According to this report, since the Corona epidemic, there have been fewer births and more deaths in Delhi. In terms of population control, a low birth rate is considered a good sign, but a low birth rate is scary. Let us know about this report in detail.
The Civil Registration System (CRS) of the Union Territory has recently released scary figures. Data has shown that Delhi's birth rate has been gradually falling for a long time, the rate of decline has increased significantly during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. In contrast, death registrations in 2021 had seen a significant increase during the earlier pandemic years. The birth rate, which was 18.4 children per thousand population in 2019, fell to 14.9 in 2020 and then reached 13.1 in 2021. Whereas in 2022 this number improved slightly to 14.2.
Reduction in mortality rate
This is still much lower than before the pandemic. As far as the death rate is concerned, the data shows that the death rate has decreased significantly between 2021 and 2022. This is understandable considering the severity of the second wave of the pandemic in 2021.
lowest in a decade
This is the lowest in almost a decade (since 2013). In 2022, there were 6.07 deaths per thousand, compared to 8.28 in 2021 and 7.03 in 2020. More accurate survey-based estimates of birth and death rates are given by the Sample Registration System (SRS) data compiled by the Registrar General of india (RGI), which works under the Union home Ministry and is the body responsible for it.
