Keeping in mind the interest of the farmers, the central government has made a big announcement. Union minister anurag thakur told in the cabinet briefing that the government has approved hike in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for various Kharif crops for the year 2022-23. The MSP of Kharif crops for the year 2022-23 will now increase.



Thakur informed that the cabinet has increased the MSP of paddy by Rs 100 to Rs 2,040 per quintal for the 2022-23 crop year. The decision was approved in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast that the southwest monsoon of 2022 will be normal at 99 per cent of the long-term average.



A better-than-normal monsoon over the past three years has increased kharif food grain production by an average of 2.8 per cent and may result in a 2.5 per cent increase in kharif production, while rabi production has increased by 1.5 per cent.


Approval given to MSP of 14 Kharif crops

Information and Broadcasting minister anurag thakur told reporters that today's cabinet meeting approved the MSP of 14 Kharif crops. The MSP of common variety of paddy has been increased from Rs 1,940 last year to Rs 2,040 per quintal for the 2022-23 crop year.



Support price of 'A' grade variety of paddy increased

The support price of 'A' grade variety of paddy has been increased from Rs 1,960 to Rs 2,060 per quintal. Paddy is the main crop of Kharif, sowing of which has started. The Meteorological Department has forecast a normal monsoon for the June-September period.



Minister anurag thakur has also emphasized on the several programs launched by the Modi government during the last eight years to increase the income of farmers and ensure comprehensive development of the agriculture sector.
