According to the autopsy report, the victim died from hanging and there was no sign of foul play. sooraj pancholi was given bail in July but also had to turn in his passport. Later, he was also exonerated of all charges related to Jiah Khan's demise. Rabia requested with the court in october for a thorough cbi investigation into the issue.

2017

Rabia's argument against the cbi investigation and her request for the creation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to take over the case were both denied by the court in February.
