With films like Baahubali, Pushpa, RRR, and others, tollywood has mastered the art of earning the "Pan India" appellation. However, this tag is now being abused. Self-described pan-Indian films include Das Ka Dhamki, Shakuntalam, Virupaksha, and Agent. During their advertising, the producers promised to release them in all indian languages. Regarding Agent, mammootty helped get it released in malayalam as well as Telugu. Shakuntalam was made available in hindi and Telugu. There was no release of Das Ka Dhamki in any other language.

It turned out that the pan-Indian tag was only employed for ornamentation in all of these flicks. None of these have been made available in all indian languages. Then there is Virupaksha, which was made available in other languages a few weeks after it was released in Telugu. Even in Tamil, sai dharam tej promoted the movie. In spite of its release in other languages, Virupaksha failed to make a splash at other theatres.

It seems like many telugu films are utilising the pan india label only to score expensive satellite and OTT arrangements. After the telugu release, they are comfortably disregarding other languages. This is a flagrant misuse of the tag and it needs to cease before the term "Pan india," if it hasn't already, starts to seem silly.
