While this is shocking on the one hand, on the other hand, these loan apps are torturing the borrowers.A 34-year-old man from the Bhayandar area of mumbai lodged a complaint with the Cyber Police. In this complaint, on July 30, he downloaded an app called Rupee Tiger, which came through a video on Instagram. But he did not apply for any loan. However, the 34-year-old received a loan amount of Rs 1600 and received a whatsapp message to pay Rs 3000 in the next few days. This was followed by the threat of sending a morphed photo to all the contacts on the borrower's mobile phone. When the 34-year-old asked the loan officer to confirm whether the contacts were actually kept by the agent, the agent shared the mobile numbers of his wife, daughter, and son besides his PAN number and Aadhaar number. He immediately got scared and paid 3000 rupees.Thinking that the problem was over, he again deposited 1600 rupees in his bank account and filed a complaint at the police station asking for 3000 rupees again. With this, the police department has warned the people that fraudulent loan apps are also coming through facebook and Instagram. Cyber expert Swapnil Patil said that RBI has so far removed more than 200 fake loan apps from the Play Store with the help of Google. Meanwhile, Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made an important announcement last week.
