Chris Hemsworth has made it known that he plans to leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Thor: love and Thunder. The fourth solo movie to star the Asgardian hero Thor, the god of Thunder, is titled love and Thunder. After 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi will be back to direct the next instalment in the series. He will also reprise his role as the voice of the computer-generated character Korg. Additionally, Natalie Portman's astrophysicist Jane Foster, who served as Thor's romantic interest, will make a return appearance in the movie. She has acquired her own powers and assumed the title of The Mighty Thor, therefore this time she will be using Thor's hammer Mjolnir.

Since his debut in 2011, Hemsworth has returned to the role in a number of Marvel crossover movies in addition to his three current solo movies (Love and Thunder will be released on July 8). He has voiced the character in two episodes of the Disney+ animated series What If...? in addition to his roles in the four Avengers movies. Thor has been one of the most dependable characters to feature in the MCU since its start, even though his most recent movie may be building up The Mighty Thor to succeed the hero if he decides to retire.

Hemsworth spoke about his thoughts on maybe playing Thor again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the release of Thor: love and Thunder during an interview with Extra. According to him, he enjoys the part, how it has impacted his career, and how it gives him the opportunity to work with a variety of filmmakers and tones. He declared that he would keep returning "for more and more until someone ejects me from the stage."
