The Menu, a dark, twisted satire directed by Mark Mylod and written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, will satisfy one's palate. The Menu is a dish that is best enjoyed with a side of excitement and expectation since it is full of bold twists and turns that the audience won't see coming. The dark horror comedy, which features a strong but unsettling performance by Ralph Fiennes, tries to examine class, the service sector, and the ways in which the wealthy damage almost everything.

The first scene of The Menu shows Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) and Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy) taking a boat to an island where Chef Slowik's (Ralph Fiennes) and Elsa's (Hong Chau) five-star restaurant, Hawthorne, is situated. They are in for the night of their lives along with a snobby movie star (John Leguizamo) and his assistant (Aimee Carrero), wealthy finance bros (Arturo Castro, Rob Yang, Mark St. Cyr), Hawthorne's devoted patrons (Judith Light, Reed Birney), food critic Lillian Bloom (Janet McTeer), and her editor (Paul Adelstein). An evening of great dining and conceptual food art quickly turns into a bizarre and unsettling experience.

As the harsh, unrelenting, and comic Chef Slowik, Fiennes is absolutely terrifying. The actor plays Slowik with restraint, only allowing his persona to twitch while chatting with Margot, played by Taylor-Joy, who he knows doesn't belong at Hawthorne like the others. Fiennes is stiff throughout the entire movie, but he becomes more relaxed as Slowik begins to enjoy creating a particular dish later on. Taylor-Joy is just as impressive. She gives Margot a sense of enhanced awareness, and because of her character's past, she is able to help Margot understand Slowik's perspective and how absurd the experience is.

The supporting ensemble as a whole does an excellent job of complementing one another, but Hong Chau as Elsa stands out. She commands attention, and because to Chau's superb acting, the audience immediately discerns Elsa's driving forces. The Menu is begging to be consumed with a terrific storyline overall, a stellar cast, and a strong directing effort from Mylod. Although viewers may not feel particularly hungry after viewing the movie, their experience will be something they won't soon forget, much like Slowik promised his own visitors.
