OTT services were attacked by 'Kantara' actress and director Rishab Shetty during a press conference at the 54th international Film festival of india 2023. He chastised them for being closed to the kannada cinema industry. Shetty also asked IFFI and its supporters to acknowledge kannada cinema. At IFFI 2023, his film 'Kantara' received the silver Peacock Jury Award.

Rishab Shetty stated during the IFFI 2023 press conference, "OTT platforms are not open to the kannada film industry." That is a very negative indicator. They claim there are no subscribers here, but they are investigating and deliberating. During Covid-19, two production houses were actively working, rakshit Shetty's Paramvah Studios and my Rishab Shetty films, and other production houses were also creating films, and we are actively participating in film festivals, but they are not accepting the films."

The 'Kantara' actor also had a special request for the IFFI sponsors. "So, I wanted to make a request to IFFI and its sponsors to give recognition to our films... films which have less exposure in theatres should also get some recognition and they should be taken to OTT platforms," he went on to say.
