PM Modi said, 'To promote this sport, we have brought the National sports Policy and, after several decades, the Khelo india Policy. This will try to bring about all-round development of the sports world.'

India is celebrating its 79th Independence Day today. On this occasion, prime minister Narendra Modi hoisted the flag at the red Fort for the 12th consecutive time. Addressing the country from the ramparts of the red Fort, he talked about sports. He said sports are also important for the development of the country. I am happy that there was a time when parents did not like children to be interested in sports. Today, it has completely reversed. Today, when children come forward in sports and take an interest, parents are filled with pride. I consider this a good sign. When I see the environment of encouraging sports within the families of my country, my heart is filled with pride. I consider this a good sign for the future of the country.'

PM Modi said, 'To promote this sport, we have brought the National sports Policy and, after several decades, the Khelo india Policy. This will be an effort to bring about the all-round development of the sports world. From school to Olympics, we want to create a complete ecosystem of sportswhere there is coaching, fitness, playgrounds, sports arrangements, necessary resources for sportsand help small-scale industries in creating resources for sports. That is, we want to take a complete ecosystem to the children of remote areas.'

PM Modi said, 'But friends, when I talk about fitness, I also want to put forth a concern before you. The families of our country should also worry about this. Obesity is becoming a big crisis for our country. Knowledgeable people say that in the coming years, one in every three people will be obese. We have to avoid obesity. He gave a small suggestion that the family should decide that when cooking oil comes home, 10 percent less will come, we will use 10 percent less, and we will contribute towards winning the battle against obesity.
