Background: A Classic Film with Untold Stories

Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989) remains a milestone in Bollywood’s romantic cinema.

The film launched Bhagyashree’s career and strengthened Salman Khan’s image as a romantic hero.

Decades later, fans still cherish not just the film but also its behind-the-scenes anecdotes.

The Publicity Shoot Incident

In a 2015 Rediff interview, bhagyashree recalled a troubling moment from a publicity shoot.

The shoot took place at a hotel, possibly Holiday Inn or sun N Sand in Juhu, Mumbai.

A well-known photographer (unnamed) wanted some "hot, sizzlingpromotional pictures.

He suggested that salman khan kiss bhagyashree without informing her to capture a spontaneous shot.

Both salman and the photographer were unaware that bhagyashree was listening nearby.

Salman Khan’s Respectful Stand

Upon hearing the photographer's idea, salman immediately asked:

“Have you asked her?”

The photographer dismissed the need for consent:

“No. What is the need to ask her? It’s just one shot.”

Salman firmly refused, stating:

“I am not going to do anything like that. You take her permission; if she says it is okay, only then will I do it.”

His response highlighted his respect for bhagyashree and her autonomy.

A Bond Beyond the Film

Bhagyashree and salman shared a deep bond beyond their on-screen pairing.

When she married young, her parents didn’t attend the wedding due to disapproval.

Only salman khan and Sooraj Barjatya’s family attended from her side.

Bhagyashree expressed no resentment, acknowledging her parents’ concerns.

Conclusion

Salman’s stand during the shoot reflects a strong stance on consent and professional ethics, rare for that era.

This moment remains a memorable example of mutual respect in bollywood history.
