Anubhav Sinha Reflects on the Failure of Ra.One with Shah Rukh Khan

Film Background


Ra.One was released in 2011, starring Shah Rukh Khan.


Despite high expectations, the film underperformed at the box office.


It was one of the rare flops in Shah Rukh Khan’s career.

Director’s Emotional Response


Director anubhav sinha revealed the emotional toll the film’s failure took on him.


In an interview with YouTube channel Ulta Chashma UC, he said,


"That film broke me emotionally. It took me time to recover."


He mentioned that though people now claim to like Ra.One, it was declared a flop at the time.


Working with Shah Rukh Khan


Sinha expressed deep admiration for Shah Rukh Khan.


He said he considers himself lucky to have worked with the superstar.


He added,

“Even if I never work with him again, knowing him as a human being is enough for me.”


Praised Khan’s humility, describing him as emotional, kind, and with a middle-class mindset despite his stardom.


No Future Collaboration (For Now)


Sinha shared that he currently has no story suitable for Shah Rukh Khan.


He also acknowledged that Khan might not have time for him either.
