Background of the Case
The defamation case stems from the 2020–21 farmers’ protests.
Kangana mistakenly identified 73-year-old punjab farmer Mahinder Kaur as Bilkis Bano, a Shaheen Bagh protester.
She allegedly posted that the elderly woman was “available for Rs 100” to participate in protests.
Mahinder Kaur filed a criminal defamation complaint under Sections 499 and 500 of the indian Penal Code.
The complaint cited damage to her reputation and dignity.
